The Foreign Policy, Security & Regional Cooperation Platform examines the external environment in which North Macedonia, Southeast Europe, and the wider European and transatlantic community operate.
The programme explores geopolitical developments, foreign policy positioning, security challenges, regional dynamics, and international cooperation. Particular attention is given to democratic security, strategic competition, malign influence, hybrid threats, transatlantic relations, European foreign policy, and regional cooperation frameworks.
By connecting national developments with regional and global trends, the programme provides analysis that is both context-aware and forward-looking, helping institutions, policymakers, and citizens better understand an increasingly complex international environment.

Key Initiatives
Impact & Image Observatory (IIO)
PRESPA Institute’s flagship analytical platform for monitoring international presence, influence, perceptions, and patterns of exchange involving North Macedonia. Established in 2020, the Observatory combines the International Impact Index (3I Index) and the Image Observatory to generate evidence-based insights into foreign policy, international relations, and geopolitical developments through statistical analysis, media monitoring, social media analysis, public opinion research, focus groups, and expert interviews.

Feminist Foreign and Security Policy Initiative
Established through the Pooling of Female Expertise on Foreign and Security Policy initiative and further developed through the Untapped Expertise project, this initiative seeks to strengthen the participation, visibility, and influence of women experts in foreign and security policy. The initiative established a Working Group of Women Experts, developed a public database of expertise, delivered training and research activities, produced policy outputs and public communications products, and strengthened connections between experts, institutions, and media.

OSCE Expert Network
PRESPA Institute contributed to the establishment of the first OSCE Expert Network and today remains an active participant in its activities. The Institute served as a core member of the Network Support Initiative and co-organized the First Summit of the Network in Skopje in 2023, contributing to policy dialogue, analytical exchange, and security cooperation discussions across the OSCE area.

Thinking and Working Together
An ongoing cooperation with the Embassy of Spain in North Macedonia dedicated to strengthening policy dialogue, academic exchange, and bilateral intellectual cooperation. Beginning with a policy forum in 2023, the initiative has continued through policy sessions, academic lectures, and expert discussions addressing European affairs, democratic governance, foreign policy, strategic foresight, and international cooperation.
